After TOI story, Lokesh lauds Vizag police for helping NEET aspirant
Visakhapatnam: Following a report by The TOI highlighting how a city police officer helped a NEET aspirant avoid missing her examination, Andhra Pradesh IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh on Sunday praised the Vizag police for their empathy and compassion.Sharing the report on social media, Lokesh said, "Happy to see this, Vizag City Police! You've shown that policing with empathy and compassion can make a huge difference to people's lives."The incident took place on Sunday at a NEET examination centre in the Malkapuram area, where Circle Inspector Golagani Appa Rao was on duty. He noticed a distressed aspirant who had forgotten to bring passport-size photographs, which are mandatory for entry into the examination hall.Acting quickly, Appa Rao arranged for the photographs to be procured in time, ensuring that the student was able to write the exam.Speaking to TOI, Appa Rao said the gesture had drawn widespread appreciation, including from Vizag city police commissioner Dr Shanka Brata Bagchi. "The girl had come from Parvathipuram and was anxious as she could not find a nearby photo studio. I asked a constable to take a bike and some money and get the photographs. Everything was completed in time, and she could enter the exam centre. I never imagined it would receive so much appreciation. Even several parents present at the centre applauded our efforts," he said.
